SELENE (KAGUYA) lunar limb profile — moon/limb/kaguya_lalt.bin ================================================================================ Source data SELENE Global Grid Topographic Data of the Moon (LALT_GGT_NUM), dataset sln-l-lalt-5-topo-ggt-num-v2.0, version 2.0, published 2017. Origin of the data: ISAS/JAXA. Provided by the SELENE (KAGUYA) Data Archive (DARTS), ISAS/JAXA: https://darts.isas.jaxa.jp/datasets/darts:sln-l-lalt-5-topo-ggt-num-v2.0 https://data.darts.isas.jaxa.jp/pub/pds3/sln-l-lalt-5-topo-ggt-num-v2.0/ Acknowledgement, as requested by the SELENE Data Archive "We thank the SELENE(KAGUYA) LALT team and the SELENE Data Archive for providing the SELENE(KAGUYA) data. SELENE is a Japanese mission developed and operated by JAXA." Modifications The original PDS3 fixed-width table (1/16 degree global grid, 2880 x 5760 samples) was converted to a float32 elevation grid and then resampled into a limb-radius profile table: the limb height is tabulated on a 1 degree grid of selenographic (libration) longitude and latitude and on a 0.1 degree grid of position angle, taking max (R + h) cos(alpha) over a +/-9 degree arc for each direction. Values are quantized to 4 m, delta-encoded along longitude and latitude, and then stored in this project's own zlib-compressed LLB1 container. No other changes were made. Licence The source data are provided under the ISAS Data Policy, https://www.isas.jaxa.jp/en/researchers/data-policy/ which states that its rules are compatible with Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International, https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/ This file is redistributed under the ISAS Data Policy. It is provided "as is", without warranties of any kind. ISAS/JAXA is not responsible for the actions of data users and does not endorse this project. Embedding Compiled into the moon/limb package with //go:embed, and linked only when that package is imported. A copy of this section ships as moon/limb/NOTICE so that vendored copies of the package keep the attribution. ================================================================================ 2. Planetary and lunar theories — planet/internal/semianalytic/**/*.bin ================================================================================ Upstream theories and authors VSOP2013 — planetary theory, Simon, Francou, Fienga & Manche (2013), distributed by IMCCE at https://ftp.imcce.fr/pub/ephem/planets/vsop2013/ TOP2013 — planetary theory for the outer planets, IMCCE, distributed at https://ftp.imcce.fr/pub/ephem/planets/top2013/ ELP/MPP02 — lunar theory, J. Chapront, M. Chapront & G. Francou, 2003, distributed by SYRTE, Observatoire de Paris (not through IMCCE's ftp server) at ftp://cyrano-se.obspm.fr/pub/2_lunar_solutions/2_elpmpp02/ Its distribution README.TXT (December 2002) is purely scientific — authors, description, file list and references — and states no licence and no terms of use. Used by the legacy model as well: ELP2000-82B — earlier lunar solution, Chapront-Touzé & Chapront, distributed by IMCCE at https://ftp.imcce.fr/pub/ephem/moon/elp82b/ VSOP87 — earlier planetary series, Bretagnon & Francou (1988). What this project distributes Its own numerical refits of those theories' argument structure to the JPL DE440/DE441 ephemerides. The amplitudes in the *.bin tables are produced by this project's fitting pipeline; the upstream coefficient files are not redistributed here. Relative to the upstream theories the tables are modified in two ways: (1) the argument structure is truncated to the terms the fit retains, and (2) every amplitude is re-fitted to DE440/DE441 instead of being taken from the published series. Published constants The argument phases and frequencies (the VSOP2013 "ll(1..17)" set) and the GM constants used by the generator are published in the VSOP2013 README.pdf distributed by IMCCE and in Simon, Francou, Fienga & Manche, A&A 557, A49 (2013); for the Moon, in Chapront & Francou, A&A 404, 735 (2003). Rights in the underlying theories This project can neither allow nor forbid the use of the VSOP2013, TOP2013, ELP/MPP02, ELP2000-82B or VSOP87 theories. Apache-2.0 covers only this project's own work — its code, and its compilation and rearrangement of the published series — and not the theories themselves. Downstream users who need to rely on the terms of the underlying theories should consult the IMCCE legal notice, https://www.imcce.fr/mentions-legales which restricts reproduction and makes commercial or professional use subject to IMCCE authorisation. ELP/MPP02 terms The official ELP/MPP02 distribution ships README.TXT (December 2002) and the explanatory note elpmpp02.pdf; neither states a licence or terms of use, and no separate terms file is included. This project therefore treats ELP/MPP02 as carrying no stated terms and relies on the disclaimer under "Rights in the underlying theories" above. Note also that IMCCE's ftp server carries only ELP2000-82B, not ELP/MPP02. Downstream users who need a formal position should consult SYRTE, https://syrte.obspm.fr/, and the IMCCE legal notice. ================================================================================ 3.
